School Safety & Security

The safety and security of our students and staff is of paramount importance to us.  Working in partnership with our parents and stakeholders, we adopt a whole school a pproach in the creation of a safe and secure learning environment.

School Visitors

All visitors to the school must enter the school via the main gate and report to the  Security Guard Post located there. Security guards on duty will record the particulars of the  visitors, including name, NRIC number, contact numbers, as well as the time of arrival and  departure, in the visitors’ log book. Registered visitors will be issued a Visitor’s Pass which  they should display prominently at all times for easy identification by staff and students.  Visitors should proceed directly to the General Office where our office staff will attend  to them. No visitor is allowed to proceed beyond the General Office and the canteen area to  other parts of the school without being accompanied by a school staff.

School Gates Opening Hours

Before the morning assembly, students may enter the school using either the main  gate or one of the side gates. The main gate is opened from 6.30 am to 7.00 am on school  days, while the side gates are only opened for students before morning assembly and during  school dismissal time.

Morning Drop-Off

Parents who choose to drive their children to school are encouraged to drop them off  at the public carparks nearby, where the students can then enter the school via the side  gates.

On rainy days, parents may let their children alight at the sheltered foyer. For the  safety of our students and to ensure smooth flow of traffic in school, we seek parents to get  their children ready to alight with their school bags upon entering the school gate.

We urge everyone driving into the school to exhibit patience and care when driving  within the school compound. Drivers must keep to the speed limit of 15 km/h and follow the  directions given by our school staff or security guards.

School Dismissal

Students may be dismissed via the main gates or one of the side gates during school  dismissal at 1.30 pm. We seek parents’ cooperation to wait at the designated areas along  the walkway at the main gate or at the void decks of the HDB flats near the side gates for  their children, so as to avoid congestion at the gates.  Parents who are driving in to pick up their children can only do so 10 minutes after  the regular school dismissal time (i.e. 10 minutes after 1.30 pm) or when all our school  buses have left the school compound.

Permission to Leave School Early

No student is allowed to leave school on their own during curriculum time. Students  who need to leave school before school dismissal must be fetched by their parents or a  member of their family. Such persons will be required to provide their personal particulars in  the presence of a General Office staff before they are allowed to leave with the students.

Safety Around The School

Students are expected to walk quietly, and not run or play, when moving around the  school. They must exercise caution, care and consideration for others when using school  facilities. They should also queue up when making purchases at the canteen and school  bookshop, and when boarding school buses.

When the lightning alert system is activated, students must stop all outdoor activities  immediately and move indoors.

Emergency exercises, such as fire drills, are held twice a year to ensure that  students and staff know what to do in the event of an emergency.

Road Safety

Students must exercise care and caution when crossing the road. They are  constantly reminded not to jaywalk but to use the pedestrian crossing and obey traffic  signals. To make themselves more visible to motorists, students are also advised to raise  their right hand when crossing the road.

Travel Declaration

As part of emergency management to safeguard our students’ and staff’ health,  students who travel out of Singapore during the mid-year and end-of- year school holidays  are required to submit their Travel Declaration. Parents may submit their children’s travel  declaration via the online form accessible at http://www.mconline.sg. The hardcopy form for  parents without internet access is available upon request.
