Future-Ready Leaders: Leading Self, Peers and Community
-
Programme Overview
Guided by the theme, “Future-Ready Leaders: Leading Self, Peers and Community”, the Learning for Life Programme (LLP) empowers every student to grow as a compassionate leader and reflective contributor. Through meaningful leadership opportunities and authentic learning experiences, students develop the confidence to lead with empathy, collaborate with others, and serve the community purposefully. The programme also encourages students to reflect on their experiences, recognise their strengths and areas for growth, and contribute positively to those around them. By nurturing resilience, responsibility, and social awareness, the LLP prepares students to thrive and lead in an evolving world.

Our Leadership Pillars
a. Self-leadership
Self-leadership forms the foundation of our students’ leadership journey. Students are encouraged to develop self-awareness, resilience, responsibility, and a positive mindset so that they can take ownership of their learning and personal growth with confidence and purpose.
The Growth Mindset Programme is designed to nurture self-leadership in students from P1 to P6 by developing key Growth Mindset dispositions — the belief that abilities can be strengthened through effort, perseverance, and learning from challenges. Through an age-appropriate series of lessons, students explore four core concepts: I can train my brain, I put in effective effort, I learn from mistakes, and I embrace challenges. Engaging learning experiences enable students to apply these mindsets authentically in their daily learning and interactions.
A key feature of the programme is its emphasis on empowering students to take ownership of their learning journey. Through guided goal setting and reflection sessions facilitated by form teachers, students learn to set personal targets, develop action plans, monitor their progress, and reflect meaningfully on their growth. These experiences help cultivate resilience, self-awareness, and responsibility, equipping students with essential self-leadership skills to become confident, reflective contributors and future-ready learners.
b. Peer Leadership
Peer leadership provides students with opportunities to positively influence and support others within the school community. Through meaningful leadership experiences and collaborative interactions, students develop communication skills, empathy, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility as they learn to lead by example and contribute positively to their peers’ growth and well-being.
The Class Committee and Peer Support Leaders (PSL) programmes are designed to nurture peer leadership by equipping students with opportunities to develop collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills. Through their roles and responsibilities, students learn to work effectively with others, foster class cohesion, and contribute towards a caring and inclusive school environment. Through peer support initiatives and student-led activities, students are encouraged to look out for their peers, build meaningful connections, and positively influence those around them.
A key feature of these programmes is its design to empower students to take active ownership in shaping a positive school culture. Through authentic leadership opportunities, guided reflection, and collaborative experiences, students learn to communicate with empathy, support their peers meaningfully, and reflect on their contributions to the community. These experiences nurture students to become compassionate leaders and reflective contributors who can positively impact others within the school community.
c. Community Leadership
Community leadership provides students with opportunities to contribute meaningfully beyond the classroom and school environment. Through authentic service and community engagement experiences, students develop empathy, social awareness, and a sense of responsibility towards others. Students learn the importance of serving with purpose and understand how their actions can positively impact the community around them.
The Values-in-Action (VIA) programme is designed to nurture community leadership through meaningful and age-appropriate service-learning experiences across the primary levels. At the lower primary levels, P1 and P2 students develop care and hospitality through the hosting of kindergarten students, where they learn to interact positively with younger children and help them feel welcomed within the school environment. At the upper primary levels, P5 students demonstrate teamwork and responsibility through the planning and running of the Children’s Day Carnival for lower primary students, creating meaningful and enjoyable experiences for their juniors. Following the PSLE, P6 students participate in a student-initiated VIA project where they discuss, plan, and carry out meaningful community initiatives, allowing them to exercise greater ownership and collaboration in serving others.
A key feature of the VIA programme is its mission to empower students to become active contributors to the community through meaningful participation and reflection. Through planning, collaboration, and guided reflection, students learn to appreciate diverse perspectives, recognise the impact of their contributions, and develop empathy and social responsibility. These experiences nurture students to become compassionate leaders and reflective contributors who are committed to making a positive difference in the community.
